FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

My doctor says I should go on EVENITY–how does it work?

EVENITY works differently than other osteoporosis medications. EVENITY inhibits a protein called sclerostin. By binding and preventing the activity of sclerostin, EVENITY promotes bone building and decreases the breakdown of bone. The dual effect of EVENITY, both building new bone and decreasing breakdown of existing bone, will strengthen your bones, improve your bone mass and lower your chance of breaking bones.

How do I take EVENITY?

The usual dose of EVENITY is 210 mg given under your skin (subcutaneously) as two consecutive injections once every month for one year. A trained individual should administer your EVENITY injections. After initial training in subcutaneous injection, you may self-inject EVENITY if your doctor determines that it is appropriate and with medical follow-up as necessary. During your treatment with EVENITY, you should take calcium and vitamin D as directed by your doctor.

Three resources are available to support you in learning to self-inject. All are featured on the Starting EVENITY page of the website.
